Travel Inspiration

Your best travel inspiration magazine! In this issue we will take you to the best regions of the country: the Greater Caucasus, for some otherworldly hikes through Svaneti and horse riding in the remotest region of Tusheti. Cyclists will find inspiration in our article about cycling remote valleys and passes and mountaineers will find out more about the adventure of reaching the summits of Tetnuldi and Kazbek. Our motorcycle article starts in the lost villages of Mestia, Ushguli and Lentekhi on the partially-existing roads that connect them and ends in the semi-desert non-existent road that should lead to David Gareja.

As usual, besides articles about which places to visit and what to do there, we will also tell you about Georgian ancestral cuisine and winemaking traditions, while being part of a supra ceremony and experiencing genuine Georgian hospitality.

Beautiful Encounters

Georgian hospitality has been an unexpected surprise. We will never forget the kindness of all Georgians who made sure we always got enough food and drinks after a day spent in the mountains of the Caucasus, hiking or photographing the amazing peaks. Several inspiring interviews in the magazine.

Delicious Georgian Cuisine

‘Every Georgian dish is a poem’. These are the words of famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. After having tried so many delicious dishes in Tekuna’s restaurants we fully understood what he meant. Georgian traditional cuisine is a colourful poem made up of all the juicy ingredients provided by a mild climate, and which are cooked with ancestral techniques, from the times when the merchants of the greatest empires – such as the Ottomans, the Mongols or the Persians, passed through Georgia, strategically located on the Silk Road. The national dishes are the fusion of all of these cultures.

Let yourself be charmed by our contributors’ travel stories:

‘So, we started off, out of Omalo and into the wild scenery of the Caucasus. At first, we followed a small path that wound in gentle curves through the forest. The mood was good and we enjoyed the sunbeams that fell here and there through the treetops. We followed Giorgi, who rode ahead on his horse, while our lack of authority allowed our horses to indulge in the pleasure of one or other snacks along the way. After two hours, we finally approached Shenako. Our stopover was a tranquil little village on a hillside, topped by a small church. Giorgi’s aunt, who lives here, invited us in, and we were served a delicious tea made with local herbs’.
