The Land of the Blue Sky and the Green Prairie

Travel Inspiration

Visiting a country for the first time is an opportunity for us to verify whether our preconceived ideas about that country are true or not. For us, Mongolia was the homeland of the vast empire, which was conquered by Genghis Khan; a realm that eventually collapsed to its titan neighbours, China and Russia. As we approached Mongolia, our minds were filled with images of brave horsemen, frightening warriors and nomadic tribes in vast, scenic steppes.

Feel the Mystical Gobi Desert

Overlanding through Mongolia’s Untouched Landscapes

“Our motorcycle journey throughout Mongolia soon fell into a simple routine: riding, eating and setting up wild camps. Without any ‘must-visits’, ‘must-dos’, or must-sees’, along our route, we were utterly free from obligations, from expectations, and from plans. Even the ‘must-do’ habits of combing one’s hair, wearing fresh clothes or having a shower had long been packed and forgotten at the bottom of our suitcases. They were swapped by wild camps in stunning locations, warm bonfires at dusk and gazing at the stars while enjoying the company of our new-found friends.”

Who doesn’t feel enticed to witness the daily routines of people whose tasks include eagle hunting, horse riding and yak herding? People who, in their free time, like to throw knuckle bones, shoot with a bow and arrows, and sing tonally with their throats.

– Dan from Dansmags

This is Mongolia!

Naadam is not only about men and their manly games. If at any point you get overwhelmed by all of these brutal competitions, which entail galloping on horseback, shooting arrows and throwing opponents to the ground, don’t be disheartened. The fun starts when the competitions are over! We dare say the games are just an excuse for the nomads of the country to come together and to eat and drink as one big family.
